Francis Sage and Joe Seaman

Description:  Chessie System Conductor Francis Sage and Engineer Joe Seaman were often the regular T&E crew in the early years of the Cuyahoga Valley Line. Seen here at the Hale Farm boarding site at Ira Rd., Bath Twp. Date approx. Francis was one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet, and the ideal of what a passenger conductor should be.

Old Ike
Title:  Old Ike
Description:  A mainstay of the Cedar Point and Lake Erie RR for about 20 years, R. C. "Ike" Henry, Sr. was a B&O fireman on and off from the Depression era until the end of steam in Willard, OH. His retirement job was as a seasonal engineer on the CP&LE, where I met him in the late '70's as a new fireman. Great guy and a great teacher, with a lot of great stories. Lived to be 93! Seen here oiling around on CP&LE #5, formerly "Jack Foster", now (I think) #44 "Myron H.", a Vulcan.

Santa's Day Job
Title:  Santa's Day Job
Description:  Well, not really, but he does often play one. Longtime Baltimore/Washington area fan and engineer Tom Hires as my engineer sometime in the early 2000's (all I know for sure is that it is before April of '04). Taken waiting for traffic on track 1 at CP South RO behind Crystal City in Arlington, VA (former N. end of Potomac Yard). One of my favorite photos of a railroader at work.
